Molly of the Yukon….

Molly fits us perfect!

Just thought I would let you know that Molly is very happy and has been just a wonderful dog for us.  She has lots of personality and spunk.

Molly has set up housekeeping!

Our living room is basically her den.  Every night when she goes to bed (on the couch, or with our son), she buries all her toys in the couch and covers them.  She also drags this blanket all over the house, upstairs and downstairs, and sucks on it.

Molly is fun on so many levels!

And her favorite game is retrieving the frisby.  She will run through the snow, down the hills on our walks, to retrieve the frisby and always bring it back for another throw.  She is lots of fun and really enjoys the winters.

Breeder’s Note: People are drawn to the Weimaraner for many reasons. This family had lost their beloved previous Weim when they came to inquire about a potential puppy. Working out the logistics wasn’t easy, because they live in Whitehorse in the Northwest Territories. Regardless, we found a way to make it work.

We encourage people to get out with their Weimaraner regardless of the weather. Some will fall in love with snow and more than tolerate the rain. Others will balk at the sign of a rain cloud. Much of this depends upon their idea of what is fun, and their early experience. We recommend, getting out there and having fun with them. Sometimes the pup raised in the cold wet seasons learns to love the weather. This is a huge plus!

We find it interesting that she nurses her blanket. We have fielded questions from non-OwyheeStar clients that have written to ask about their Weim that sucks on their blanket. In our query, we have often discovered they acquired the Weimaraner early (prior to 49 days), and we felt maybe they were cut short on socialization. Molly left much later than that, so it makes us think that possibly the sucking on the blanket is comforting and enjoyable to some Weims. One think for sure; Weimlovers enjoy their fur-family member’s antics.
